All proceeds from this event will go to support our core services of delivering food to those in need and reducing local food waste.

Providing fresh, nutrient dense food while having a positive impact on our environment.

OUR VISION

We believeā€¦

  • Everyone has the right to eat fresh, nutrient dense food.

  • In a community that reduces environmental impacts from food waste

OUR WORK

Veggie Rescue is the only non-profit in Santa Barbara County that rescues perishable local produce and delivers it within 24hrs to organizations providing support for low-income families, youth, seniors, and those facing housing insecurity.

Illustration depicting a food distribution cycle. A truck labeled 'Veggie Rescue' is moving between a local farmer and a community organization. The farmer has a basket of vegetables, and the organization offers fresh produce to a person holding a shopping bag. A heart with a medical cross symbol is shown, emphasizing health benefits.

By bridging the gap between farmers and community organizations, the mental and physical health of those residents with limited access to fresh produce is improved, while having a positive impact on the environment.

Our Community
Food Access Model

Illustration of a yellow delivery truck with an orange clock on it and the word 'TIMELY' below.

We partner with farmers to donate food just in time before it goes to waste. Unlike a foodbank model, rescued fruits and vegetables are delivered within 24 hours of pickup to organizations on the days when they need it the most.

Green box of fruits and vegetables with arrows pointing in three directions, labeled 'Flexible'.

Our high-touch model allows us to be familiar with each organization's needs and to tailor our services to provide greater client reach.

98% of Veggie Rescue's partners are local food growers and producers, which contributes to a closed loop economy and increased nutritional density.
