How Veggie Rescue Works
Every pound rescued follows a simple, powerful path, from farm to family.
Step 1 – We Rescue Fresh Food
We collect surplus produce from local farms, distributors, food businesses and markets-food that would otherwise go to waste. Each day begins with our team coordinating pickups, ensuring no good food gets left behind.
Step 2 – We Deliver Daily
Our refrigerated trucks transport rescued produce across Santa Barbara County within 24 hours of pickup. This quick turnaround keeps food fresh and ready to nourish our neighbors while reducing greenhouse gases.
Step 3 – We Nourish Our Neighbors
The food is delivered free of charge to more than 65 nonprofit partners, including schools, shelters, and senior centers, who turn those fresh ingredients into nutritious meals for thousands of residents every week.
