Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to Some of the Questions We Get Often

Do veggies really need rescuing?

Absolutely. A significant amount of fresh produce goes to waste simply because it can’t be sold, even though it’s perfectly good to eat. By rescuing this food, we reduce waste, support farmers, and help local nonprofits provide healthy food to those who need it.

What does it cost for our nonprofit to receive food from Veggie Rescue?

Nothing. Veggie Rescue provides food free of charge to all partner nonprofits. Thanks to our generous farms, food donors, and supporters, we can offer this service at no cost. Availability depends on donation volume, but there is never a fee for the food or the delivery.

What is Veggie Rescue's service area?

Our core service area is Santa Barbara County, where we pick up and deliver food to local nonprofits. We also pick up donations in Ventura County from a few generous donors to help prevent good food from going to waste.

How can I support Veggie Rescue?

There are several ways to get involved:

  • Donate to help fuel our trucks and expand our impact.
  • Volunteer at gleaning events or help with special projects.
  • Share our mission with farms, food businesses, and community partners who may want to donate food or collaborate.
Is Veggie Rescue a nonprofit?

Yes. Veggie Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all donations made to support our work are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
